Manithanaay Vaazhamaattaay (You Will Not Live as a Human) — An intense and soul-stirring Tamil philosophical song confronting religious sectarianism, dogma, and false piety with the eternal truth of universal human compassion (Manitham).

Whatever outward religious robes or sectarian markings you wear, if you have no love and tenderness in your heart, you will never realize God. Meaning in English

Stop and listen, O man. Whatever robe or outward form you wear, if there is no love in you and no tenderness, you will never come to know God, and you will never live as a human being.

The colours of life are many and the ages each carry their history. On the road we call life, a hundred thoughts crowd the mind. Drunk on religion, fools argue and quarrel, and when they stray from the path, life breaks apart into scattered, broken patterns.

You who feel nothing, do you know the pain of a living being? You raise walls in the name of religion; have you forgotten the face of your fellow man? If you do not wipe away your neighbour's tears, how do you expect to receive the Lord's grace?

What difference is there at birth? The lines that divide us are a ruin. What religion does a hungry stomach have? The blood that flows in us is of one colour. Love alone is the road that lifts us up, and every living thing is God's creation.

So the song ends where it began: without love, you will not know God, and you will not live as a human being.
